at that price i'd say go with the sli and if you're not happy then sell it (you'll probably make all the money back anyways) and get the 7900gs

the prices come to $129 shipped for the sli and 206 for the single 7900gs.

Wouldn't the sli give me better graphics for less money?

sorry to hijack yout thread. but would 2x7600gs be faster than a single 7600gt.
more to the point will they play oblivion at 1280x1028 with HDR (most other setting low)

from this review 7600GS SLI outperforms a single 7600GT and on some instances can give a single 7900GT a run for it's money...sorry no benches for oblivion

the newegg deal is sweet, but i would prefer the 7900GS, plus they tend to be great OCing cards, also a 7600GS SLI takes a hard performance hit when applying aa/af at higher resolutions

Hilarious benchmarks. I'm not sure who to believe now.

SLI. Just because you can say " Hey, I got SLI." J/K. Do it so that if you got an eVGA card you can get them both stepped-up at the same time. That way, you can stay in SLI.

128 bit cards won't scale well with higher resolutions and AA. In that review you posted, the only time that the 7600GS SLI compares favorably to a 7900GT is at low resolutions where the game is CPU limited. Once the detail/res gets cranked up the 7600 based cards quickly fall behind by a fair amount. The benchmarks that they do win are by 1 or 2 fps.

So lets say you are using res of 12x10 or lower.
Id get the 7600GS SLi, get some 3rd party cooler like zalman vf900, OC the hellout of the 7600GS. (Since stock 7600GS is pretty damn slow).

Technically a 7600GS is 5% faster than a 6600GT. A 7600GT is fast as a 6800 ultra.

But higher res, the 7900GS would be a better buy. You can also buy custom cooled 7900GS from the KO version of EVGA and leadtek. These GS are monster OCers. You could be getting within 5~10% close to 7900GTX performance with a 199 dollar card.

yeah, it's not the best review, but it was the only one i could find that involved a 7600GS SLI(could have sworn techreport had one). also as you pointed out a 7600GS SLI(even at some higher resolutions) only does well against a 7900GT with no AA/AF applied, something that i should have made more clear in my orginal post.
