Is there a huge difference in performance between 7600GS and 7600GT? Or are the differences only in marketing and only cosmetic to sell the thing?

Yes there is a big difference, don't let one letter fool you!

Check online for performance reviews of 7600GS and 7600GT

If you are familiar with older products:

7600GS is slightly better than 6600GT

7600GT is slightly better than 6800GT

For stock performance GTX > GT > GS. Difference depends on the game. Some games there is a pretty big difference between the GS and the GT. Others the difference is negligible.

MUCH BETTER!! 6800XT is around between 6600GT and 6800, so close to 7600GS

The 7600GT's have DDR3 memory and the majority of 7600GS's have DDR2 memory(there are a couple of GS cards that use DDR3). The DDR3 cards will run higher memory speeds and an overclocked 7600GT is a pretty fast low priced card. Mine is running at 650MHz core and 1650MHz memory.

7600gt definitely, HUGE difference in newer games. I had mine at 700/1700 but it was running WAY hot, so i took it down to the specs in my sig

Well I am buying a card as a birthday gift for my sister so I am trying to figure which one. I really appreciate all the responses so far guys. :)

Summitdrinker especially a huge thanks. That site is great.

I could have looked for reviews online, but it is always good to get the opinion of fellow gamers as well.

Also in a similar price range is the 7600GST.

What the hell is the GST? It has an artic cooler. Any ideas?

Well it looks like the GST is basically the GS with a nice cooler. Pointless and it is just better to get the GT I guess.

Not worth paying extra for the Fatal1ty edition. The 7600GT is going to look awfully slow anyway when the 8600 series is released in a few weeks.

Best bet is to go with the lowest price:

XFX for $99 after Rebate

or choose the one with a slightly better cooler, but pricier:

EVGA

Both have lifetime warranty

Which one should I get?

I just need something to hold me over until the DX10 picture becomes more clear. Will this play BF2 on all high settings?

The 256-P2-N554-AX has a slightly higher clock and better EVGA proprietary cooler.

If you can, it is probably better to wait a little more to get something from the new midrange line from NVidia or ATI

Can't I upgrade or something w/ EVGA products for like 90 days? I thought I read that somewhere...

Yes, EVGA has a step-up program where you pay the difference to upgrade to a higher-priced card within 90 days. You can read about it on their website:

EVGA Website

The FAQ is a bit more informative and useful:

Step-Up FAQ

Good Luck

I think the GST has DDR3 memory and is otherwise a GS.
