75GXPs...recommendation?

I currently have a Quantum Fireball 40G 7200rpm...but i'm thinking of maybe getting an IBM 75GXP 75GB later on...but it seems like some of these drive are dropping like flies... do you guys recommend this drive still?

You may want to get the 60GXP instead. Had to RMA a 75GXP myself. I'm not saying they are all bad, but in my experience, and from what I've heard you may want to avoid that line.

Search for threads about the 75GXP. There is no way you would want to get one of these drives if you did some homework.

The big 75GXPs have more platters and tend to run hotter and fail more often because the hardware inside is so dense. The 75 gig 75GXP has 5 15 gig platters while the 60GXP has 3 20 gig platters.
The prices are also better than the 75GXPs too. 60gig is ~$200 and the 40gig is ~140.

If you want more than 60 gb, you could get the latest wd drive. 80 gb or something. I wouldn't go for the 75gxp. Havent seen bad wd drives lately. So I assume the new one is as good as the 400bb or whatever it's called.
