75GXP 45gig hd + kt7a == 10,000 on sandra? Is this on par?

Hi...
I've got it as the primary on the second ide channel, with nothing else on that channel. its a 7200 rpm drive, supposedly one of the best ide right now, but I was under the impression that this score is weak? anyone care to comment..

I think you might need to use the VIA 4in1 driver. I have Kt7a with the IBM 45G 7200rpm and my current Sandra score is 24161. The IDE does get a major boost after the driver.

No it is not!

My 34GXP (ATA-66) IBM drive scores about 14,000, and my 75GXP scores about 24,000.

Are you running it in ATA-100 mode?

TeMpT - I have a KT7A too and I am not using the VIA driver, just the Windows default one.

22,000 with the same HDD and KT7-RAID. Bus-master drivers are not installed, and I do not recommend them for the KT7 - don't know about the KT7A, but you might need them because of the 686B Southbridge chipset.

that hurts. I don't know what to do about it. I made a thread hoping everyone would post their exact way of setting up their system went, but no one seem to be doing that hehe 😉

Heres how I did mine:

Install Windows 98SE onto freshly formated C: partition, and only the graphics card, HDs and CD-ROM plugged in.
Install DirectX 7 or 8.
Install VIA 4-in-1 v1.26, just the AGP driver part, in Turbo mode.
Install graphics card drivers.
Install DirectX again.
Check DMA tick-box in Device Manager for compatible drives.
Insert network card, set that up.
Insert sound card into PCI Slot 3, get that set up.
I have no other cards so that was it for me!

Working like a charm, as I say all drivers are Windows default except for VIA AGP (and card specific drivers).

I disabled apci, reinstalled all the patches, and now I'm getting scores of 17,000... which is quite a bit better but still not as good as it should be. oh well, thanks for the help.
