I already have an MSI K8T Neo FISR board. Right now I'm probably going to go with 3700+. Problem is I can only use 1GB of my 1.5GB (3x512) sticks I have. Should I get an 3500 or 3800 939 and use my board, or keep the $100. I'm planning on buying a raptor with the money leftover as I feel this will give me a bigger boost in performance than will the marginal cpu increase

Also, should I just put all 3 sticks in and have them run at DDR333?

If you already have the board (and you dont have a cpu on it currently) and think you will be satisfied with a 2.4ghz cpu then I'd say keep the board and buy the s754 cpu (hell, I'd buy the 3400 for like 80 bucks less... I dont think the extra cache is worth it). Just test both 1 gig and 1.5gigs of ram and keep withever setup you like best.

I can get the 3400 1mb cache for 165, throw on a zalman and I'll be at $200. I'm not a big gamer, but I'm a very big multitasker. Right now I have a p4 560, Intel D915PBL, and 1GB ddr2. So why downgrade? I guess cause I can sell my stuff for probably 450 and still have some money left over after I buy the raptor. For my needs I think the raptor will be a nice addition.

Should I stay with my P4 If mostly what I do is multitask/webm ?

can u describe a situation when u feel u need more performance? i mean what kind of multitasking ur doin? Cuz i dont know if it makes sense to throw out ur hyperthreading cpu for a faster (but made for gamers) AMD cpu.
Right now dual-cores are obviously overpriced and hard to get hands on but maybe those would be a better system upgrade. Maybe u stay with ur current rig and save enough money for a dual-core. It surely boosts performance in multitasking situation. And price will fall sooner...or later ;).

hmmm... I certainly dont see any reason for you to "upgrade" from a 560. You're pretty much up there and since you say you multitask a lot, then there's nothing better than dual-core. If you do plan on going dual-core then I'd suggest an X2 but if you want to stay single core then I dont think there's anything that would be much better than what you have right now.

As Bling says, amd dual cores a bit expensive so you'd be better off holding onto your 560.
