I think that skt939 does have an advantage in media work over 754, and he will be able to expand ram more than 754 too.Originally posted by: darXoul
Go with the cheaper rig. Unless you intend to upgrade your CPU really often, socket 939 offers no significant advantage in comparison to 754.
Exactly, mo ram is mo betta 😛 It won't get slowed down like 3 sticks on 754 either.Originally posted by: SneakyStuff
I just like the fact that the 939 boards have 4 slots for RAM, vs 3 that most 754 have, I could get another 2x 512, and have 2 gigs much easier on a socket 939 board. That's where i'll be ehaded come christmas.

I would think the dual Ch mem setup would help quite a bit. But hard to say say depending on the amount of ram used and program.
But I would go 939

Dual-Channel = worthless for average consumer.

That came out before Dual Ch A64 chips/boards did and only talks about Dual Ch for the Socket A platform. Date: 2004-01-13
Not even close to what effects Dual Ch. has for the A64 while doing video editing.
