I suggest you go see a doctor for this. You can take medication to help you cope with your panic attacks.

Any reason why you're having a panic attack?

I guess your just kidding, if you were having a real one, I don't think you'd be able to type.

What helps me is that I try to remind myself that being scared does not help anything at all, and that there is nothing in the world to be so paniced about. When you feel the anxiety starting to develop , try to concentrate on your breathing. Focusing on that trying to keep your breathing stable may help to calm you.

ok. well, I don't exactly know what you want us to do...
Tell us, help us help you, what is it that's bothering you?
Is it just a general panic attack?
Narrow it down, find a reason. FOCUS on the here and now. Is it because you're being eaten alive by an aligator? Are there any aligators nearby? How on earth are you posting on Anandtech if you are anywhere near aligators? You must be in Florida... hm.
Ok. well that didn't help me at all, I'm STILL having a panic attack, thanks a LOT OuterSquare, ya big yahoo.

sheesh.

(that was totally nutz, did that help?)

Oooh oooh, I've got another one. STOP USING THE SAD FACES FOR POSTING!
trust me, a good Google eyed caricature helps my mood anyday.

Maybe this will help:

"The positive side of life"

Living on Earth is expensive, but it does include a free trip around the sun
every year.

How long a minute is depends on what side of thebathroom door you're on.

Birthdays are good for you;
the more you have, the longer you live.

Happiness comes through doors you
didn't even know you left open.

Ever notice that the people who are late
are often much jollier than the people who have to wait for them?

Most of us go to our grave
with our music still inside of us.

If Walmart is lowering prices every day,
how come nothing is free yet,,,or they are goin outta business?

You may be only one person in the world,
but you may also be the world to one person.

Some mistakes are too much fun
to only make once.

Don't cry because it's over;
smile because it happened.

We could learn a lot from crayons:
some are sharp, some are pretty,
some are dull, some have weird names,
and all are different colors....but
they all exist very nicely in the same box.

A truly happy person is one who
can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

Have an awesome day, and
know that someone
who thinks you're great
has thought about you today!..
And that person was me.

krakken is right. When I feel anxiety, it often isn't about the immediate present, but rather I think about how bad the future will be. I know the thoughts of the future probably won't come to be true, but its very hard to stop thinking ahead.

Go find about 1mg of Xanax. The blue ones or take two pinks. In 45 minutes you will look back and realize you had nothing to be worried about.
Caution: You should see a doctor to get these, and don't abuse them, or you will turn into a gel head.

Hey, I really think we should be using happier faces in the posts, instead a the default sad face like in the title post. Showing a concious effort that we care can make a difference.

<< I've seen a doctor and he prescribed something, but I haven't gotten it filled. The pills will probably mask the symptoms, but they won't make the causes go away. >>

Take the pills anyway. After all, it's the symptoms that are affecting you.. Don't avoid taking them because you don't think it will do anything about the cause (do you know what the cause is?)..

yeah man, ive heard of a lot of sucess stories about taking the medicine. also, i think Cognitive Behavioral Therapy works well with anxiety disorders.

I myself have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and CBT works pretty good. I havent had a panic attack in a while though. Best of luck, try the medicine, you might discover a wonderful new drug my friend. But don't rely solely on the drug. Try therapy/medication.

Take the pills brother, and give it a week or two. You don't neccessarily have to stay on them forever.

I do understand your reasoning above, but forget that and take them anyway.

<< My worst attacks happened about a year ago, I'd be sitting in my room listening to classical music and then suddenly I felt like I was going to die. >>

You've got to stop listening to that crazy classical music these kids are listening to these days.. you know they put subliminal messages in there, and God help you if you play them backwards...

Seriously, though.. when you have a bad cold and can't function, you take some form of decongestant to clear your sinuses; if you have a headache, you take aspirin/tylenol/advil to relieve it. People with HIV have to take a rather complicated regimen of various drugs... None of these addresses the root causes, but they allow us to function. In your case, I'd recommend medicinal marijiuana 🙂 (half-seriously, actually)

Good luck to you!
