I prefer the term pitch. When I think field I usually think of American games such as baseball and football.

Yeah, I'll admit we have some archaic forms of measurement (feet/yards/miles, gallons, Fahrenheit, etc) but we're still the authority on spelling, syntax and grammar.. even if we did inherit the language from the Brits.

The Olympics is not a professional sporting event (yes splitting hairs I know). Also the 2 people that died (not mass murder) were killed by a single terrorist on a mission, not by the impromptu decision of thousands of normal civilians to go on a head-stomping victory celebration and kill as many as possible because their team won a soccer game. Whatever happened to Tebowing!

On the other hand, deadly riots occur somewhat frequently at soccer matches, and what happened in Egypt doesn't even seem out of the ordinary. Just another soccer match.

The game wasn't over when that happened. Their team scored and was winning, but they hadn't won. Granted, he said "ended with" and the Olympics didn't end with the bombing, but the bomber intended to kill far more and would have if it weren't for Richard Jewell. Also, it didn't happen at an actual game. I can pick me apart too. Anyway, it was still a major sporting event with home-grown violence that could have killed many more people.
