Hello there, I've got my new rig going a couple days ago. And I'm still deciding on which kind of monitor/hdtv to use for the computer. Currently i'm using my HP w1907 screen which is 1440x900 res. Overall I'm happy with the resolution at the moment and I wonder if games will look better @ 1080 vs 720P (or 1366x768 native res)

Would I be just better off finding a decent quality 720P LCD TV (1366x768 native res) for gaming D:? I have an older model of 32" westinghouse on my brother's computer and overall I like it. For now I like to play my games on a big screen without sacrificing performance. What do you guys think?

your system has enough power for 1080, and it will look better than 720. are you asking if you can get by with 720 to avoid the cost of a new monitor?

720p is good for tv and movies, 1920 x 1080 for a monitor/gaming rig.

Seems like a waste of money if you already have 2x 5770s but will only get a 720p monitor/TV for gaming...

1080p will definitely look better than 720p. I'm now thinking of how games look on my friend's 360 and it just looks bad... I'm sure if the 360 actually displayed real 1080p (and maybe had AA), games would look a lot nicer.

5770's is a waste if you're only going to be gaming @ 1024x768

You spent so much money on your cards yet can't spend ~$200 on a decent monitor???

I play on my 37 inch lcd at 720p and it's just fine. It looks much better then a x-box 360. With a little aa/af I have trouble telling the difference between it and 1900x1080 on my crt TV.

Use a 720p lcd and your 5770's with some aa/af and you'll be set for a good while.

Don't believe the hype!

I game a lot, enough to be bad for my health. I use a 5770 and recently made the change from a 50" HDTV 720P (1366x768 native res) to a 46" FullHD (1920x1080 native res) set. I never liked being limited to 1280x720, even though games look great at that res on a HDTV sitting from a couch.

Games look great at both resolutions when sitting from a distance. Though there is a noticable difference to me, even sitting 8 feet back in favor of 1080P. Some games the difference is more noticable than others. In Just Cause 2 the game looks a lot sharper in 1080P, i mean it looks incredible. It looks great in 720P, but it looks amazing at 1080P. Other games it more sublte, but 1080P is sharper.

If you are sitting closer to your monitor than 3-4 feet you should definatly go with 1080P over 720P.

The more detail in the game environment the better it looks at a higher res.

This is true. I sit about 6 feet away from my 720p gaming LCD and it looks great.
