70's Movie "Logan's Run"

It looks so campy, so 1970ish and the "incredible" special effects. Should I get it for the cheese factor or is it actually any good? It's a look at the 23rd century where you have anything you want or need, problem is your life ends at 30.

Logan's run is a great movie for what it is. Kinda like Death Race 2000 and Planet of the Apes. You just have to enjoy it for what it is.

It is a great movie but like all movies they need to be taken in the context of the time they were made. The reason you missed this one Spidey is you were about 4 years old and this is a movie that rarely shows up on television. This movie was obviously considered something special by one of my teachers because I saw it in class the year the movie was released....on one of the first VCRs.

I think I enjoy futuristic moves for the societal aspect more than anything. Minority Report, I Robot, A.I. (yes, I actually really liked it), etc.

I like it myself.

However, the book and the movie are considerably different.

Im about 5 miles away from the Water Gardens in Fort Worth. That is where the portal is to "the other side" in the movie. Not much has changed.

I saw the movie at the drive in back in the 70s and few times since then. Havent seen it in a decade. It will now be my mission to see it again.

The Island's purpose was as a supply of organs for people who paid for that service. In Logan's Run everyone dies to keep the population in balance to keep the limited space of their domes from becoming overcrowded and make sure that the human race survives(althought the planners of the domes never tought that the earth would repair itself and become inhabitable again). IMO, Logan's Run is an excellent movie. :thumbsup:

If you watch Logan's Run, you have to do yourself a favor and see Soylent Green. It's a similar concept. Charlton Heston puts up one of this best performances in that movie.
