Hi I'm Domination, and I'm a lurker 😱

Thought this would interest all of you: StarFire Thread

Now I'm no Engineer (well actually I Am 🙂)... but, I say to all of you that we should not let our guard down one bit... Our competion is formidable, and I for one do not take them lightly... with or without their big guns, they are a force to recon with.

So, I say... we need to recruit MORE, assimilate MORE, crunch MORE, and put MORE teams between us and DSLR.

MORE... MORE... MORE...

I don't know what everyone here at TeAm AnandTech thinks but I think both sides should wait this out. It looks to me there is some frustration showing on both sides right now between the Ambassadors and we should let them follow the rules they laid out to resolve the issue at hand.

Let's keep this friendly! 🙂

We are both very good teams and have been friendly so far.

Thanks for listening.

A friend from Team Starfire

I agree NeoGeek, we have two very good Ambassadors that can keep this ball rolling...

Great production Guys and Gals...
Amazing!!!!

There seems to be some problem getting the Handicap adjusted and reported. They have outproduced us by 355 WUs since the 1:00 Report adjusting for new members on both sides. Stone has flushed 688 WUs.

So now we should start cutting into that lead since Stone has seemingly finished for the day.

More, more, more............................

/wait a minute, I'm starting to sound like that damn Engineer. 😀

They are just mad cause they are about to get STOMPED! (Isnt that their word???) With them losing their #1 producers machines and TA getting the power from the auction, which by the rules should be allowed. It is NO different than if we went out and bought or rented machines to crunch. Crunch they will. If they lose, hopefully they will lose with the same honor they speak of, rather than pointing fingers and making excuses.

I agree we should keep calm about this.

One thing to think about, the auction could have very easily gone the other way, and SETI would have lost a LOT of horsepower to other projects. In fact, it was close even to the end. If other outside teams had banded together, the winner could just have easily been a team outside of Anandtech altogether. In fact, based on the rules, DSLR could have bid on the power pot and won.

And the whole focus of the auction was to raise money for David McOwen's defense fund and was successful in that endeavor. 😀

The auction was NEVER about getting WUs for SETI, that's why it was open to any and all. 🙂

I also think that the true amount of additional WUs gained from the power pot is going to be quite smaller than what people are thinking, primarily because a lot of the donors are already running SETI. (That was one of Calvary's motivating forces, to keep current SETI CPUs on SETI and not divert them to another project 😉)

Well Bot,

It looks like you?re a bit inaccurate about things. 🙁

If you truly read the post by MgKnight you would know that getting stomped was in reference to the possibility of us passing you during the race. Now that this is a remote possibility at best ( I know, don't say it), you should remember this is only a race. This is supposed to be fun!!! 😀

Unless you know something that only the Ambassador's should know I think we should wait and let them cool off and then get things settled.

My machines have produced for seti except for the few times I switched to dnet to help them under the name "Seti Cavalry". That time amounted to well over a week all totaled, I would say it was more like a month. We are all one team here at AnandTech.

Now if a few people switch their machines over to seti in this situation to help Dave that's great. My machines would still have been producing for the race anyway. I will be switching my machines over to the Seti Cavalry account for a week. My WU's had dasm well better continue to count for the race.
The thing is they are bi+ching about a measly 26ghz for a week. Sure that's substantial, but not as substantial as they are thinking. It Just sounds like sour grapes knowing they are destined to lose this race and fade far into the dusty recess to our rear.

And what's that BS about recruiting from other teams? That's simply a load. We have been recruiting from our forums, if someone in our forums happens to be on a different team and they decide it would be more fun to be on ours and they change - GREAT!!!

Very well said!!

Like I keep saying, lets keep this with the ambassadors and if I remember right, if the ambassadors can't come to a consensus they are to sellect some senior members of each team to resolve a problem.

I want nothing more than for both teams to remain friendly!!

I didn't realize there was a problem or issue at hand! :Q

Maybe I'm just blissfully ignorant. 😕

I hope the DSLR folks don't take offense, but I really haven't been paying attention to "The Race"; my primary concerns were and are with welcoming new members to our team, helping people out, racing against IsOs and helping TA climb the team ladder in the world rankings.

I've actually taken care not to get involved in the specifics of "The Race"; I just keep crunching the work units and moving forward. 🙂

What a bummer 🙁

It's a good race. Real close and it really shows how strong the 2 teams are. But now this. Kinda takes some of the fun out.

Let's try to keep our heads up and spirits high. Don't get caught up any degrading name calling. And don't be sore winners or losers. However it turns out, it would be fun to have a rematch!

Hidy Ho AnandTech...

Just wanted to let you know that the DLSR thread mentioned in the first post of this thread has been locked. It may or may not be opened again tomorrow after people have had a chance to calm down. If you feel like taking off your gloves, just stick your hands in your pockets for now...lol

This is my answer and best advice to both sides
not to take anything away but the issue is for the ambassadors to work out and make sure that the numbers and members are right, if it is I am sure it will be fine.
But that is for the Ambassadors to have fun with and not us as stated in the ROE

Guys... I just came back after being away since my last post on this thread and find that things have gotten out of hand both here and at DSLR's site.

I simply meant to rally our troops in response to MgKnight's attempt to do the same.

I request the MODs lock this thread so it can drift off into oblivion. Since our counterparts have done the same.

Hopefully this can be settled to everyone's mutual satisfaction.

Now let's get back to the race... don't you know we are behind by 798!!!
