700m running hotter after Windows reinstall?

So I deleted all the hidden partitions and did a fresh install of Windows XP Pro, but I'm finding now it seems that the lappy is running hotter than before with the default Dell install. I did install the speedstep fix that was on Dell's site when I did the reinstal. Has anyone else experienced the same, and what might be the cause?
