I'm working on a 700m that has had the power jack broken. I have it completely torn apart and I have it down to the pcb that holds the modem/nice/power/ps2 ports. I found plenty of replacement jacks on ebay but my soldering skills are nothing special.

I'm trying to find maybe the pcb with all of the jacks on it as one so that I wouldn't have to pay someone to solder a jack on. The power jack is a Foxconn A522C I believe.

Anyone have any suggestions? Could any of you fix this for me? I don't have a jack ordered because I just got this tonight to work on.

I believe I will put it halfway back together so that I don't forget how to assemble it. Here's a guide for the 700m in case anyone is curious: picture guid

Nice pics and nice Wiha. :D

I assume the 700m is out of warranty? :p

700m service manual

I have a fairly decent success rate soldering the power jacks on various notebooks. However in some cases I create additional problems so I make sure that the customer is given fair warning.

Yes it is out of warranty. Dell quoted $300+ to fix it. I found a complete one on ebay tonight with the modem/nic/power/ps2 for $42 shipped. I'm going to try it instead of spending $30 on a jack that I could screw up.
