700m Hard Drive Question

it's a clicking. Almost like the clicking noise that you can make when your tongue when you move it from the roof of your mouth to the bottom. Always two clicks in a row.

No real reason for it to be doing it--i.e. doesn't seem to be when it's writing to the hard disk or anything. Also, it shouldn't (I imagine?) be a battery thing, since it's plugged in to the wall, and the hard disk isn't set to shutdown when that's the case.

Suggestions?

Almost like an old-school rifle bolt? *clack-CLOCK*

If so: Click of Death.

Back up all data ASAP and call Dell. Do a test beforehand if you want. 😛

I realize this almost doesn't make sense, but it's sort of a springy kind of sound... Almost like the sound Windows makes when it disconnects a USB HDD (it's not that, as the sound is muted here).
I seem to recall seeing some other people comment about this in their posts on one members 700m forums--sorry, don't have time to look it up at the moment.
Any other 700m people have a thought?
