700m and cpu i think

Hi and thanks for trying to help me out.


there's a high pitched beep coming from the place where the cpu is. I have no clue what it is... and it actually is almost constant (there are times for about a second it doesn't make a sound and then comes back). and so from what cy7878 said it happens.... BUT i'm wondering if this is a normal thing for the 700m. I hate the sound it drives me crazy when i'm not in a loud environment. Please help me out and just take a listen to see if yours does it too. thanks all.

Any kind of high pitched sound coming from the hdd cant be a good sign.

I have heard high pitched sound from new laptops. Actually the sound may come from a number of places -- I know, I searched this.

1. CPU : when speed set on MAX, you likely hear more of the sound
2. LCD light: for some reason the flourescent backlight is a known source.
3. HDD, the thermal caliberation process, causes a writing squeek sound.

I tried listiening to the cpu and hdd as best I could, and it seems to be coming from the cpu. Thanks a lot.

hrmm I'm not getting anything from my power adapter.... gosh this sucks.. and i really like this laptop too. Just it's hard to use when you hear this high pitch beep in your ear.
