Hi was wondering if you could please give me some info about your system, like what cooling you're using and what components you have, what's your CPU temp on idle and full load... Like mine I have the following.

P3-700e cc0 OCed to 1050 7*150 with Alpha PEP66 and Artic Silver with core voltage of 1.85
ASUS P3B-F Motherboard
GeForce 2 Ultra

CPU has a Full Load (after running SETI for more than 3 hours) temp of 36-40c an idle temp of 23-25c

Well let me know what you have so we can compare and stuff, and PLEASE DO NOT LIE... Thanks

Well, my PIII700 is a cb0 stepping that only did 1050 one time. It won't do it again for some reason. :( At 952, at 1.80volts my idle temp is 29 and my full load temp is 40. Full load defined as 20 minutes of Prime95. I've found that even though everything runs stable, Prime95 will come up with an error indicating that I need to up the voltage. A funny thing is that I can do 933 at 1.7 volts. After that, I need .05 volts per 2mhz of FSB. When I booted to Windows at 1050, it was at 1.85 volts. Like I said, it just won't do it again.

edit: Ambient temp right now is 27. Using PAL6035 with Delta fan and arctic silver

my Cbo 700E does 1001 at 1.85V, I use radioshack paste and Gorb, so my temp is much higher, full load at 45C and idel at 32. Cool in case is 4 80mm Sunon hi power fans, dual intake and dual exhaust. MOBO is the CUSL2.

Atomic, I'm using an Alpha 6035 with Arctic Silver. I just upped the voltage and fsb to get 1001 mhz at 1.85 volts.

Idle
CPU: 31/87
MB: 27/80
Ambient: ~21/70

Full Load (Prime95 10 minutes and running, no errors)
CPU: 43/109
MB: 27/80
Ambient: ~21/70

Depending on what your ambient temperature is, you're not doing too badly.

edit: Installed another thermistor to monitor case temp, as per Mikewarrior. Case temp at 23. So under full load at 1001, my cpu runs 20 degrees above ambient.

Most people won't lie, but read temps that hte mb's are, in essence, lying to them about.

I guess my p3 gets close enough to 1gig(these are calibrated diode temps)... P3-650@988 1.8V, Cusl2, Taisol CGK742092. 38C CPU running Rc5, 21C ambient case temp(measured 1 inch from cpu fan inlet). MB=23C.

Idle temps around 26C.

P3 700e cC0 @ 1050 mHz @ 1.7v air cooled by a Gorb on a CUSL2

Idle
CPU: 32C
MB: 28C
Ambient: 25C (i know thats kind of warm, but my sissy roommates cant take the cold)

Full Load
Idle
CPU: 38C
MB: 29C
Ambient: 25C

*when i was home for christmas break, the ambient room temp was about 21-22C, so a full load w/ SETI@home running 24/7 was 41C...but now that i'm back at school where the ambient room temp is 25C, SETI brings my CPU temp up to 45C, and i dont like the temp being so high, so until i find a better cooling solution, no SETI for me.

Sunny129,

Changing heatsinks would probably drop that temp... Depending on what you want to spend, you could try a taisol or a globalwin...?

i've been seriously thinking about another heatsink/fan combo, but my system is pretty loud already. i have to shut down at night b/c i cant sleep with the noise. i've been looking at the FOP 32 and 38, but i dont know much about taisol...

the taisol 60x10mm fan is only a tad noisier than hte g-orb fan, and it performs pretty well...

and what kind of temperature drops can i expect with my setup by going from a Gorb to the specific Taisol you mentioned?

You'd probably look at around 38-40C with a lapped CEK733092 and good grease. NOt sure if that was the temp drop you were looking for... :). But it is a low-cost solution. ;)

well like i said b4, my full load temp is about 38C...maybe 40C when playing UT. but this is at school where the ambient temp is about 25C which is pretty warm. now i would like to run SETI@home all the time, but i'm not even doing that right now b/c of the warm apartment. i also have my case open for better circulation. it would be nice to be able to close my case, run SETI 24/7, play UT alot, and max out @ 40C full load. if you still think i can accomplish this with the CEK733092 thats great news. otherwise i would be willing to spend a bit more to max out @ 40C. also, what exactly is lapping?

Lapping is basically sanding a heatsink so that its flat. It isn't necessary, but improves performance a bit.

I can't guarantee a 40C full load temp with a taisol, but it is achievable. You might want to get a taisol CGK742, which will almost certainly drop you into 40C or lower full load temps.

i'm assuming the CGK742 has a louder fan...the question is how much louder?

cool...well i wrote down the make and model, and as soon as i get some dough i'm going to order one. this is just the beginning of a system cooling overhaul. i have to get some new quiet case fans. i wish i could get some Papst fans here in the U.S. i dont want to have to make an international order.

700 FCPGA cC0 doing 1015 on a CUSL2-C board
CoolerMaster DP5-5G11 Heatsink with Arctic Silver Paste Applied
Fong Kai FK-603 Case
Motherboard ~ 23-25
Full Load, 45 is the highest I've seen after Half Life for a couple of hours or running the Sandra burn in program running continously.
It will actually go slightly higher but this is at stock voltage so I'm happy with it.

is there a place to buy p3 700's with the cc0 stepping? will the alpha pep66 heatsinks fit on socket motherboards (vp6)?

980 @ 1.7v using 6035 with Sayno fan and Arctic Silver
CUSL2-C
29-31 idle
38-42 full load (RC5)

I've had mine up and stable to 1050 but the fsb is just too much for my SCSI. I've dropped back down as this is the sweet spot for overall system performance. At 1050 I had to increase the core voltage to 1.85 and the cpu was stable.

Deceiver, there is no store or online source that will sell you a P3 700e guarranteed to have the cC0 stepping, but you can get a cC0 from Compuwiz1 in the forums here. i also hear the Bonkers325 sells them too, but i got mine from Compuwiz1 and doing business with him was very pleasant.
