7000 x86 to 7100 x64

built new pc last week
first os loaded on HDD and currently running: Windows 7 build 7000 (downloaded from microsoft website when it was available a while back, burned to DVD-r, and saved for this occasion)
Q9550 @ 2.83GHz
8.00 GB RAM
GA-EP45-UD3P motherboard
Avira AntiVir
one HDD
one DVDRW
downloaded 7100 RC from microsoft website and burned to DVD-R with ImgBurn

inserting the DVD at desktop gives me:

clicking on Run sperr32.exe i get the security warning:
Do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer?

clicking yes, i get the following error:
The installation disc isn't compatible with your version of Windows. To upgrade, you need the correct installation disc. For more information, check your computers system information. To install a new copy of Windows, restart (boot) your computer using the installation disc, and then select Custom (advanced).

reboot, go into BIOS, make DVD first boot device, HDD second boot device, F10, save & exit, asks me to press any key to boot from CD/DVD... I've tried space, enter, space and enter, any combination of keys, and immediately boots the HDD. Strange thing is that the DVD acts like its going to start, i.e. briefly starts spinning, then slows down and stops, followed by an immediate load of the HDD.

rebooting again, going into BIOS, making DVD first boot device and everything else disabled, F10, save & exit, same thing - boots the HDD.

Any help is appreciated.

You can't install an x64 OS from within x86 Windows, so that's right out. As for your other problem, it sounds like it's working, but your keyboard isn't being detected. Go in to your BIOS and make sure USB Keyboard support is enabled. Barring that, try a PS/2 keyboard.
