I`m just curious. My new setup seems faster than my last one. I used to have a NEC DVD-RW (can`t remember exactly but I think it was something like ND-3520), a Newcaslte core socket 754 3400+ and 1GB of Corsair Value RAM, a Western Digital Caviar 60 GB HD and Ultra round IDE cables. I had the same kind of motherboard I have now (Asus K8N4-E Deluxe).

Anyway, now I have a Clawhammer 3700+ (s754), 2GB OCZ Platinum RAM, BenQ DW-1655 and Samsung Spinpoint 250 GB PATA HD (S2514N or something like that). I`m also using the stock flat ribbon cables that came with my motherboard atlhough I plan to get Vantec round IDE cables. I think it would be cool with my Coolermaster Centurion case and Coolermaster purple LED fans (they shine great on black paint WOW!).

Well, I can`t believe the transfer times! I know my previous timings was something like 2.5-4-4-8 with 2T command rate. Now it`s 2-3-2-5 with 1T command rate (with 2.8V that I set in BIOS). Anyway, is 45 seconds real fast? I mean, transfering a movie file that fast from a DVD-R?

15MB/sec is good, but not out of the ordinary. To get a speed increase in reading discs, all you would need to do is upgrade the dvd drive.
