Cost efficient? how so? he'd probably only save no more then $100... completely worth the extra 100 for those cards instead.
edit
imo

Purely on a cost per FPS basis. In the real world 7900gt's just seem more sexy.

Motherboard and processor look good, but what about the rest of the system? How much ram do you have? What monitor are you using? What power supply?

2 x 1GB PC3200 RAM, a Nokia 447X1 CRT (17" CRT about 6 years old but still works perfectly!), gotta decide on a case, and prolly get a 600w PS with it.
But now another thread is concerning me regarding SLI performance in a dual-core setup, what's the point if I have to cripple the CPU? *ack*
Anyway, yeah dual 7900GT's makes total sense to me. thanks!

LOL dual 7900 GT's for a 17" CRT, that's hilarious! With a 17" CRT you wouldn't need anything more powerful than an X1800XL card. Your best bet is to save some cash and get an X2 4400+ instead and then use the money you save (~$150) + the $700 you got on a decent monitor (e.g. Dell 2005 FPW) that costs around $500 and then spend the leftover $350 on a single card like an X1800XT 512 MB.

or a Ferreri with a governor set to 35 mph.

X2 4400?! Nah get a x2 3800 Week 060X...OCs to FX speeds pretty readily. But the 2005/7 is a definite. I'd still stick with a 7900GT...volt moded and OC'd, the x1800XT can't touch it, image quality withstanding...
