Without checking the shipping, you're looking at $7000 + tax + truck rental to get it home from a local store.

If you're ordering out of state, shipping can quite possibly be cheaper than tax alone. Plus you're investing your money into a privately owned company rather than giving it away to the government.

Sony's current XBR LCD rear projection TVs are long obsolete. The current Grand Wega is much better, and $2000 cheaper than this hot deal. Just because it's an "XBR" doesn't make it the best.

Amen. I just got a 61' Samsung DLP ... and it is unbelievably gorgeous. IMHO, it's the best bang for your dollar right now. With 1080p sets just starting to ship, there are some serious deals to be had.
