been pretty damn nice in KC for a few days now. Daylight savings has let me ride after work. think i'll start commuting on my bike next week. really need to get a road bike though. currently riding a GT mountainbike with semi slicks.

well GT frame anyway... bought the rest of the parts seperate.

I hear you - mine is a Raleigh "comfort bike" SC40 (Basically a mountain bike frame with some soft shocks on the fork and seat post). I should get some semi-slicks since I ride a LOT on paved roads. Although, I do plan on riding at all the campgrounds I go to this summer (some of them have roads that are pretty rough)

55 min? now that's hardcore. what distance? hope you have showers at work!

scoob, any trail that you would ride comfort or "cruiser" bike on should be fine with semi slicks. 1, 2 and some 3 rated trails can be done pretty safely with semislicks. Don't think i'd take a raleigh comfort bike on a 4 or 5.
if i don't get a road bike i'll probably just get a set of cheapo wheels and put my semi's on them and then leave my knobbies on my rhino rims. it's a real PITA changing tires whenever i want to hit some trails.

lovley day in SE Texas today...

75 degrees clear and sunny

I gotta get a bicycle myself. I have no clue how much a decent one cost these days as I haven't had a bike in almost a decade.

I just came back from a visit to my optometrist. Man, I was almost run down 3-4 times while just walking back to the subway. My pupils are as big as peanut m&m's right now. I'm glad to be out of the sun.

Is that little Scoob tied up next to the bike?

Wow - didn't expect so many replies in here. I'll answer the few questions I got (busy day at work, so I didn't have much time to check the forums today 😉 )

opticalmace: I am 6'1" - my bike is a 21" frame (the largest raleigh makes in that series). I thought it looked huge too, but the bike shop owner sized & adjusted it for me (he is a pro and has been in the biz 20+ years). I can stand flat-footed over the crossbar and have about 1 3/4 " clearance.

DainBramaged: No that is not my son Lil'Scoob - It is my "little" cat! And yes Rallispec, he IS on a leash 🙂
