This is driving me crazy.
I have three windows 7 PCs networked at home. Two of the machines were blanked and reinstalled with a fresh copy of 7x64 (doing the hardware shuffle here). One of these two machines worked fine before hand, and now both of the new installs cannot connect to each other to browse public folders or common id contents. Whenever I try to connect all I get is an error message saying "Logon Failure: Unknown user name or bad password" - Which I know is BS.
Ironically I can connect to the machine that did not get a wipe and reinstall from either of the fresh installs, but the machine with the old install will not connect to either of the other fresh copies.
Here is what I've tried (based on Google searches)
1. Verified that all sharing settings are the same for all computers connected. (result - no change)
2. Rebooted my router and power cycled the simple switches that make up my network. (result - no change)
3. Changed all machines to a common workgroup (it was before, but just for the sake of trying something) - (result - no change)
I am confused because before the hardware shuffle, everything worked predictably and reliably. Now, not so much.
Other things that may be pertinent:
- All boxes can access the Internet and all show up on the network map.
Please help me trouble shoot this!
