Another good read by Greenwald. I don't know why anyone ever thought Obama was someone special. Certainly after 8 years of Bush and Cheney, a bag of shit would have looked good, but many saw Obama for what they knew he was. Just another politician, lacking honesty, integrity, and blowing smoke up his constituents' asses. Americans once again voted for the "lesser of two evils." And they got it. But we can't continue doing it.

You've hit the nail on the head, so to speak. The American government is corrupt beyond repair. The Dems are the lesser of two evils, but they're still owned by corporations. I think it's broken beyond repair. There's no way lobbying will ever be abolished, and that's the problem with the whole system: legal bribery.

You can put a fresh coat of paint over rust but eventually the rust will still edge out. Until the current political system is completely revamped from a 2 party theocracy into an actual multi party democracy, nothing will change.

Actually it was clear before election that Obama was a radical. People voted for the greater of two evils - because most of them aren't too great either and cant tell whats real anymore. Obama might as well have been surrounded in clouds of sulfur and wearing pentagrams he was so obvious.

You realize that the article is comparing Obama to Bush right? If Obama's a radical, what does that make Bush and Republicans? Must be nice living life like an ostrich.

This is absurd. You are quoting an article that explains that Obama is a failure because he's not progressive enough and your whole wankerism is to vote third party to force the Republicans and get them back on track. You are part of the disease. Only the Democrats have a chance to deliver a progressive agenda. There is no chance anywhere else and certainly not from your deluded state of thinking. You are totally antithetical to the thrust of the link you made.

Yeah, I knew this would happen.

I didn't post this because I'm upset that Obama hasn't been able to be a "progressive."

I posted this because the Republicans aren't the only ones being fooled.

Fooled? Who is more progressive, Obama or the Republicans? More means to a greater degree I believe. Lets see if we can get an answer to that simple question, please.

I don't know. It's pretty close so far. At least the Republicans could get a health care bill passed. They doubled the Dept of Education.

When it comes to civil liberties, they are both tied for failure. When it comes to fiscal responsibility, they both fail. They are both corporate whores. Neither is honest, neither has any integrity. They are both war-mongers.

It's a tough call, Moonbeam. Good question.

There's little cheer looking at the current situation - but a bit more looking at history, which has had its own large 'corruption', and the people causing great change.

I can't point you to much currently about that happening - other than the perhaps surprising election of Democrats not long after the media was talking about a 'permanent Republican majority', as they had supposedly mastered the system, running all branches, and making basic changes to steer K Street money their way to fund the marketing.

Can we get a movement going to reverse something critical, like the corporate right to give big money to political campaigns? Hopefully, eventually, but maybe not soon.

Unfortunately the world is not waiting, and events seem aimed at giving us other issues to deal with, as the US's development into a 'finance economy' has its own effects.

It's funny, for all the problems, many things seem to gradually shift in the right direction.

Could an American 50 years ago imagine an America where segregation was anathema, the John Birch society an object of ridicule, the social issue of the day was how tp get healthcare for all Americans, the public was somewhat more savvy about going to war, there are states who have gay marriage but no states who can criminalize gay sex, and you can buy the widest selection of porn in history without fear of prosecution?

I guess you might argue that the radical militant Christian Blackwater has more than replaced the John Birch society, but still, mostly improvement.

Hey as long as we're busy fighting amongst each other at least we're not fighting against the government. Does this remind anyone of that South Park episode where Obama and McCain were in cahootz?

He's a politician just like any other POTUS in history. Just like Ron Paul is and Peter Schiff won't get the chance to be. Not exactly news except to the partisan hacks.

Considering how the grim economic situation was back in 11/2008, if Mr Obama can keep the US out of a 1929 type Depression he will have done a great job as POTUS.

That is definitely part of it. It was refreshing to see somebody with an obvious above-slug intelligence running for the whitehouse.

The whiners will treat it as having been promised $1000 and only getting $999 - "I know we got most of what was promised but where's the other $1. *stamps feet* Where, where, where. See, I told you he was useless and corrupt".

aren't we like already on the mend from the Bush stimulus money alone?

ultimately, tbh, I think people invest way too much credit and blame in the president when it comes to the state of the economy. the power they have to move anything is vastly overrated.

Change I never believed in.

It's pretty funny how a bunch of progressive idiots actually believed Obama, was ready to suck his d!ck and worship His holiness. You actually believed this guy? HA!

Not that I agree with progressives. Progressives are a bunch of tards who don't really know how the real world really works.

Wouldn't it be better if the POTUS didn't have that much of an effect on the economy?

Did it really take anyone 7 months to figure this out? It was obvious to me early-on in the campaign. That doesn't mean that he's any worse than any of the other guys who were in the field, just that no one should expect too much.

I'd bet a buck on that guess. He reeks of butterbean.
Butterbuns wouldn't have been able to post as often as Barry without finding some pretense for exposing President Obama's sexual deviancy and "homosexual agenda". Barry is his own pathetic Marxist-obsessed delusional, not Bb redux.

If you mention winnar111, though...

It's obvious all the radical right wong quirks have taken on new identities.

New names, same idiots, ideologies and anti-American propagandas.

Except the republicans had 12 years of republican control of congress with nothing approaching healthcare.
