Searched this a bit, not seeing an answer for this particular angle. I'm trying to bring a 7 home up to 10 pro, and no matter how I go about it, it's forcing me to 10 home. Whether i use the mct, or the ISO, on a dvd or by direct download, I can't seem to get around this. Can it be done? Thanks. zz03

Edit: this toshiba laptop 2008 vintage doesn't have an option in the bios to allow a usb stick to be a boot drive, but I'm guessing the result is same as what I get with the dvd...

Home Version would Upgrade to Win 10 Home.

If your want Pro you need to buy Pro Upgrade.

Yes DVD is just as Good as USB Flash drive for this purpose.

Building onto Jacks evaluation, what you will see once 10 Home is installed in the system properties there should be a link that says something like "get more features with another edition of windows." That will take you through the ordering process of $100USD. Once that is completed, you should be able to just install 10 Pro with the same system from then on. If you already have a 10 Pro key, enter that into the setup of the bootable setup and it should select the correct version. If you have already tried that and it still insists on 10 Home, you may need a custom bootable image with just pro as the option. Microsoft support may prove helpful here.

Thanks folks I really was causing my own problem here, I was using setup from the dvd but the machine was already booted in 7 so I was only getting upgrade option. Once I let it actually boot from the DVD it went on thru, took my Pro key, and installed pro just like I wanted. Dumb. Knew better. Doh. Thanks for the responses.
