These can be cashed in any 7-11 and Western Union right? I just sent one for a sale on the FS/FT forums and the seller is saying that you can only cash them at the 7-11 it was issued in. Any thoughts?

No.

Money orders can only be cashed by the place sold them.

If you bought a western union money order at x place, you can only get it cashed at x place or a bank. You cant go to y place and get it cashed.

Then what's the point of Western Union's ENTIRE BUSINESS MODEL? I.E., sending money anywhere?

Theres a difference between Western Union's wire services(main buisness model), and Western Union's money orders(their auxillary buisness). You can send money anywhere by wiring it.

So if a bank will cash them, then what's the problem?

I shouldnt have said a bank will cash them. They will only cash them up to the amount you have in your bank account. No one will cash a money order, due to money order fraud.

Money orders are treated like checks.

Except USPS money orders which are a completely different animal...........ANY US Post Office will cash one of their own which is why I send those if I have to use a MO and why I prefer to receive them if I have to get a MO. Otherwise, any other MO I receive MUST clear my bank, just like a personal check has to, before I send out any item paid by that method.

I also prefer USPS MO's or a cashier's check issued by a U.S. FDIC insured bank.
