As the title said, is it actually possible to utilize the 7.1 output of those 7.1 sound cards (for example the Terratec Aureon 7.1, M-Audio 7.1, etc) under Windows 2000?
The reason is because I was thinking of getting one of these 7.1 cards, but most of the manufacturers' website says that 7.1 output will only be enabled under Windows XP. The thing is that I am using Windows 2000 Pro and not prepared to upgrade to Windows XP just to get the 7.1 speaker output.
The only sound card that I think could support the 7.1 support under most Windows is the Audigy 2 ZS cards, however they use non conventional output for the speaker, which is the reason why I'm trying to avoid it. (or am I mistaken to believe this either?)
