Which of the C&C 3's would be the best to get if only getting one? I note the glaring lack of a $9.99 pack that gives you all of them.

Tiberium Wars is the best one of them all. Stay away with 4 at all costs, even if you have to give a homeless guy the $5 instead to let him buy booze.

I have no clue where you read that. Literally everything I've heard about C&C4 suggests that it's a steaming pile of crap.

If you need further confirmation, notice how C&C4 is actually cheaper than C&C3, even though it's newer. That should tell you something.

(As for which game has the most players; I'm not sure)

Do I need Origin to play the C&C games? I would like to buy a new copy of C&C3 since my daughter lost my DVD, but won't do it if Origin is required.

Tiberian Sun is free too. I just played it not too long ago and I thought it was pretty fun.

ONLY approx 500 people play command and conquer red alert 3 on steam.

the other CnC didn't even make the top 100 list.

I already own tiberium wars. I want to buy on the CnC 3 Kanes wrath expansion, but steam won't let me, saying I don't own the needed game.

It can't detect the game because it's a store copy and not steam, :(.

Any way around this?

Steam I think tiberium wars and kanes wrath are only like £6 together. Where as on amazon kanes wrath is £10 alone. So it's still cheaper. Just seems stupid to buy a game I already have??

This happens a lot, and there's not much way around it for games that don't activate on Steam. Just be glad there's an affordable combo. A lot of us own titles 2x and more.

In fact, I've been wondering, do I want to re-buy Geneforge 1-5 that I paid $96 for, now that it's on sale for $10 on gog.com for the convenience? Have held off on that one.

But I've bought a 'great deal' on one site, for example Amazon, only to then see a package with DLC or expansions that make it tempting to re-buy on Steam.

Yeah. Well that's it really. Buying both from steam is cheaper than the expansion on amazon. So i'm saving money buying both, lol. As you say, at least there both available readily then.

The only big downside i've thought of with steam is if I need to wipe my HD for any reason.

It's going to take me about 2000 years to redownload things to steam, where as discs and faster.

No I mean Red Alert 3. I too enjoyed Tiberium wars. To be honest I ought to play it more before judging. I dislike these ore points that deplete.

I'm going to buy tiberium wars on steam so I can get the expansion kanes wrath.

Doubt 4 has any, every other game back to red alert 2 probably still has some hardcore hangers on though, C&C community is largely dead at this point tbh.

Dead in the mainstream, but get a bunch of dudes in their mid-20s to early-30s together and mix in alcohol it suddenly becomes a hit.
