This morning I went to get breakfast at a different place then my usual (closed for renovations). I order an Egg and Cheese on a bagel, and get a vitamin water. The lady rings me up and says $6.99. It was also not a price mistake. How do they justify that??? My old place which is a block away is $4.00...

You're from New Jersey? I believe it. That same sandwitch and water would set me back $6.50 in some places around here :(

I am not complaining that prices in NYC are higher then other regions. I am complaining that the price of the same items at once place is almost twice as high as another one block away.

Thats a ripoff - I used to get breakfast daily around Water st. for under 3 bucks.
Actually downtown you can get lunch for under 4 easily - theres a little chinese place where Water st meets John st. that has $3.50 lunches

WTF? Man, there's always a ghetto deli around where you can get a breakfast sandwich and coffee for <$3. Hell the diner down the street from me has a muffin and a large coffee for $1.

<--- Yet again is thankful he doesn't live in a big city.

:) I can go out and grab some FRESH eggs from the chicken shed, from free range chickens
The difference in quality and taste is like night and day compared to store bought eggs... I never would have thought it would be so pronounced.

And, in a few months, once the piggy gets a little bigger, I'll have lots of bacon :)

Cost of identical breakfast for me: about 10 cents.

The point here is to not have to make it yourself. I can make egg and cheese + coffe myself, but i dont have time in the morning.

Do you have a cow that makes half&half? Because that's what i like in my coffee ;)
