i dont see the big deal. At worst the magazine should have been confiscated, and even THAT's stretching it. Hell, half the kids in my Jr. High and pictures of scantily clad women on the inside of their locker doors....

Confiscated. Yes
Nice talkin' to by the principal. Yes
Suspended or taken to an alternative school. No

Remember that Seinfeld bootlegger episode when Jerry said something like how we adults take nudity movies for granted 🙂

I did that when I was in 6th grade. Except I never intended to take it out during school. Some of my bone headed friends took it out and the P.E. teacher took it up, he asked whos it was, and all fingers were pointed at me. I got it back a week later. Didnt get into any trouble for it.
Did it have sticky pages when you received it?

If the school board had a rule that sexually suggestive material isn't allowed in school, then they were completely and totally justified in handing down that suspension. I would hope, however, that they pay attention to ALL sexually suggestive materials (clothes, etc.) when judging OTHER kids.

There goes sexual education then.

NFS4, contratulations. This is the first time I've seen you be stupid on the forums. The fact that this is in the news shows that it's an outrageous punishment.

I went to a Christian school. In 6th grade, we brought Playboys to school. One kid in my class got caught with one.. It was thrown away and his parents were called. No big deal. Three days suspension, suggesting time at an alternate school, etc etc?! I mean.. what the hell is wrong with these people?

By 6th grade, the average kid has probby seen 50 R-rated movies, nude magazines, tons of porn on the Internet, etc..

On the other hand, maybe they should put the kid to death. Seriously.. that doesn't belong at school and he's probby corrupted countless other students. He should be tortured and publicly hanged.

If you read what NFS4 has said a dozen times, he disagreed with the punishment and not the confiscation. His opinion of what should have happened is exactly the same as you encountered in your Christian school.

FOX News had a phone interview with the boy's mom today. She said, yeah, he didn't need to take the magazine to school and deserved a reprimand but, once the suspension is done, he's supposed to spend a day or two at a school where troubled youths go. You know, the kids who tried to st@b other kids, caught with drugs, get into fights, etc.

That's just a wee bit of overkill for a swimsuit magazine, eh?

What if he'd brought a JCPenney's catalog in? There's women in there in swimsuits and <gasp> bras and panties!!

Next time, why don't you read the thread before you go off half-cocked 😉

THANK YOU!

i'll bet if it was a bible he brought and he got suspended everybody would have different opinioins....
although the punishment may have been a bit harsh, he should not have brought it to school.. i'm sure there are RULES against it, and that he deserved some kind of punishment....

Shouldn't have brought it to school, but the punishment should have consisted of:

1) Having it taken away
2) Being told not to do it again

When I was in the 4th grade a kid brought a Playboy to school, it was taken away (duh) but I don't remember anything worse happening to him.

Was he spanking the monkey during class or something? Spanking monkies is wrong, they have feelings too.

my monkey is sort of numb, looks like he got sick all over himself too.

God, this is stupid. Only in America would you get this kind of over reaction to a well known cultural phenomenon. And if this is the kind of punishment they hand out for just having a magazine with women in bikinis, I would hate to see what they'd do to someone with something actually bad like, oh, a weapon or even drugs!! Gawd, they'd probably call in the swat team and shut down the school.

What I want to know is how he got caught with it. If it was taking the mag out in class, that was just royally stupid. If it was the teacher snagging it in the yard or something, well, that's just sad.
"You saw bad stuff on the Super Bowl half-time show. You could see more on that than in here," the boy said.
Damn, that kid's got some attitude!! I like 😀
