6HOLY !@#12: Gigabyte Radeon 9600Pro

Got this card from someone here and this is a CRAZY overclocker man. Stock is at 400/300 and not I'm at 520/300.

3dMark03 @ 520/300 is 3755. I'm going for more as I type this. 😀

I recommend anyone to get this card!!!

What does that equate to vs. a 9700?

I don't quite get your question. I think it's performing slightly slower than a stock 9700.

I got to lower the core to 510 cause one demo was artifacting. I'm at 510/650 now. 😀

So the Fed Ex guy finally found your house huh.
😀

YEs. 😛

something's wrong. 3dmark03 is stuttering. The FPS are high but it's stuttering. Anybody know why?? I did not change any settings. Just overclocked it. It even sutters when I return it to stock.

Something running in the back round? Where did you get this card anyway? How much was it? If I can play Doom III on this @ 1024x768 at high detail settings I might actually buy it and stop waiting for the next wave of video cards.

Nothing was running at the background. I got this card from Evan Lieb, in the Fs/FT section, for a killer price.

What CAT's are you running?

Certain MBM's can cause stuttering.

The newer CAT's stopped the stuttering I was experiencing. (9700 PRO)

On an unrelated note (this remark should probably go in the hardware boredom thread!), video cards are annoying. I gave my 9800 to my wife, paid 500US for a 5900U to fix the problems with ATi's drivers in TW2003 (which it did) but the game seems kind of sluggish with everything tapped out. Oh well.

Are you sure its not your rig? Weren't you having problems before this card arrived with the other ATI card?

I'm running CAT 3.5. It did not stutter the first 10 times I ran the benches. Then I went off to attend my second pc for awhile, came back and started teh benchmark, it started stuttering then. The stutter is gone now. I played a round of wc3 and stutter went off??? Weird.

I'm on the A7V266E, everything is running well now. I'm at 510/680. 3dmark2003 = 3955. 😀

Time to break 4k marks. 😀

Buy more ram,you only have 512 megs.

1gig of ram should smooth things out. 🙂

Stuttering is solved. 🙂

510/680 and it's artifacting in certain demos. I knocked it back down to 510/675. I think I'll settle at 510/670. It's still heck of a overclock. 😀

In 3DMark 2k3 are the FPS dipping down to 3 or 4 FPS a bad thing on a 9800 when you get to the scene of those two mosters banging on the table and such? I ended up with 5138 on it. I know thats a good score, but when you mentioed stuttering, I guessed I might as well ask.

Just so you know, some of the tests in 3dmark2k3 are done in software using just your CPU. What tests are stuttering?

The proxycon test was stuttering. It's all well now. I don't know what was wrong though. The GPU does not have any throttle down features right?? 😀

Time to sell my ti4200. 😀

If it's the Trollslayer CPU test, no. That's normal.

Oh, hehe. I didn't realize it was a CPU test. I thought it was some driver issue since I've been having those with OpenGL games even after the new patches... *sigh* Thanks.

ive had my GF4 stutter when I clocked the core alot higher than the the ram for some stupid reason. if i wasnt running say 315/630 or whatever is the core speed times 2 equals the memory speed like 315/650 she would stutter...........forgive the crude typeing and what im running on 3 hours of sleep LOL

Anybody know of any good HSF I can use on this card??

SVC

But you actually have to pay for it, its not free.

Only thing I saw was the Vantec fan without any RAMsink. They don't make much cooling kits for the Radeon. 🙁
