6gb ram question

I have 6 gigs in my build - a 4gb stick and a 2gb. I know this isn't dual channel, but for performance, does it matter which slot the 4gb one is?

I had someone tell me the 4gb stick should be in the first slot for better performance. is that pure bro science? lol

I don't think it matters but both sticks should be in the first dual channel pair of slots.
