I remember over at headwize.com (audiophile headphone site) someone linked to a study done at TI over digital coax cable, where basically the $30/ft. audiophile stuff was absolutly no different then the cheapest pos they could find. If there are any other differences between digital coax and optical (i.e. features associated with) I wouldn't know, but in general cable quality doesn't matter much with digital coax. The optical stuff? No clue.
