I'm just wondering if anyone has used 6ave.com before. They are REALLY jerking my mother around (who I sent there because of their rep - it seemed good).

I've bought a bunch of stuff from them over the years at the retail locations, not online. I never had a need to return or complain about anything so I can't comment on their customer service.

i briefly worked at 6th ave electronics while in school. they are usually good with stuff. some helpful things you might want to know for the future.

1. you can usually haggle the price of an item up to a certain amount.
2. many of the items have spiffs on them that the sales person gets when they sell you that item. for example, you go there to buy a sony tv but the salesperson is pushing you towards a panasonic. that panasonic may have a $20 spiff on it where as the sony has nothing so do you research on what you want to purchase.

No the order has already been placed. The problem is they are trying to up-sale an item. They are saying the TV we ordered has a cheap plastic bezel, that the glass quality is poor and that it is sold out nationwide. It's outrageous what they are doing. They told her they "controlled her order" and she should order this other TV because they wont ship her order for two months or just not at all.

The TV in question - a Panasonic 50" Plasma HDTV - one of the best on the market. These POS are trying to make her spend more money and they are down right treating her like crap.

Her order was placed on Oct 31. It's supposed to be shipped soon. She original got an email saying that they were going to be in stock soon and they'd ship. This was last week. So she called to check on the status...and they said they didn't have it yet and would know more soon.

So the "Sales manager" calls her later and says that he's the one that all orders answer to, that he's the one that "controls the orders". Then went on to that other stuff.

They used to sell grey market goods, as legit US products. I've never trust them since.

Damn that sucks. They have like an 8.6 ResellerRating!

I'm going to talk to them tomorrow..I'll probably just cancel the order for her and tell her to go elsewhere.

I'm not telling you to cancel, they do have some great prices. I bought my Paradigm speakers from them because the price they gave me was so good. However, I strongly recommend you check with Panasonic, and make sure they are authorized sellers.

They had a very bad rep when they first came to NJ. Not only were they selling gray market goods, but they were also hammered because of their bait & switch practices. Sounds like that's what they are trying to pull with your mom.

DO NOT cancel the order. I bet you ordered PX50U or 500U and they are trying to switch you to HP PL5000N. Guess what! DO IT, it's a great deal, I originally placed an order for 50U, but they weren't getting it for a while, so I talked the guy (Stevie) down to $3,150 for the HP PL5000N which they normally sell for $4,300. So go for it and remember, they still make money at $3,000 for the HP, so make your negotiating skills shine :D BTW, HP PL5000N = Panny 500U, see avsforum.com for more details.

No he was trying to SELL her the 500U. He wanted her to pay $4400! She said no, if you want to give it in place of it, that is fine. He said no she had to pay the difference. He said they just wouldn't ship out her order for 2 months or cancel it all together...cause he controls her order and he's the man! What a jackass. It was an upsale gimic.
