6990 or 7970

7970, due to they over-clock nice and scale well and can come very close, if not offer more performance in some applications and yet doesn't suffer from the limitations of multi-GPU.

The 6990 wouldn't even be a consideration -- 100 percent for the 7970 in my mind.
 
You guys aren't being smart about this. Buy the HD6990 for $500 bucks. Turn around and sell it for $650 (a good price even in the US, probably a steal where you're coming from), buy the 7970 for nothing.

ROFL all the way to the bank.

Worst case scenario, you get stuck with the most powerful single card out there for $500 measly bucks.

Seriously, it doesn't have to be a binary decision.
 
ATI drivers haven't matured in 15 years. Why will they start now. Bring on CCC and lots of bugs!!! great hardware tho... just interns as programmers...

Considering that your system has had multiple major stability issues I'm not sure why you think like you do about how awesome nVidia drivers are.
