What CPU are you using? If your fps is struggling in MMOs, your CPU might be the one to blame. 1920x1200 with a 6970 at full ultra should give you 30+ constant, which can certainly get choppy at times so I see why you're wanting to upgrade.

Two 6970s are undoubtedly faster than a single 760. However, you're probably going to be at twice the power consumption and may have to deal with crossfire scaling and other issues, most of which should not be an issue in newer games.

Gonna be hard to find a legit comparison of the two, but this is as close as it gets:

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/550?vs=515

6990 is two slightly downclocked 6970s while the 7950 is slightly slower than the GTX 760. Therefore, this benchmark will give you a rough idea of the performance difference between the GTX 760 and two 6970s.

By the way, you linked us to a 500W OCZ PSU and you mentioned you have a 3GB 6970. I don't think a 3GB version exists. If you have a 700W PSU, you should be fine. 500W definitely won't cut it for two 6970s though.

sorry for lack of response.

The powersuppy is 700watt, but the same series.

The video card i have is 2gb, and its the black edition. (found the box)
system is at 4ghz stable

I wasnt having any issues with choppiness, i was just noticing in wow the shadows and such seemed a bit messed up.

I went into the settings, and everything was at max, but i found out the oversampling was set to 1x... after i changed that to 8x everything is looking good!

can someone explain why a 6970 is going for $250 these days? when you can get a 760 for 50$ more?

vliw4 seems like it is a good architecture for mining. If they made a 28nm version of the 6970, it would probably be more popular than gcn cards.

Sell the 6970 now, while you can take advantage of unprecedented demand for AMD cards by miners.

Use the inflated prices to profit from the sale, then buy the Nvidia for gaming.

im going to do that.. 250 a good price?

thinking of either 2x 680 or 1x 770

If you can sell the 6970 for $250 then definitely go for it. I do not see the logic in that since a brand new 270 will get an equal hashrate and use about half less power, while being $50 cheaper and coming with a warranty.

I'd go with a single 770 for starters which should be ~$300 if you can find a good deal such as this one.
