6950 w/ Gelid Icy Vision rev. 2 Fan Problem

Hi everyone,

I just installed the Icy Vision rev. 2 on my AMD HD 6950 with unlocked shaders.

My computer reports the fan speed is at 2100 RPM but the fan speed says it is running at 24% idle or 30% load. At all times it is very loud and there is no change when I try to manually adjust the fan speed.

Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks,

-Ken

Thanks for the reply,

I just did more research on it and it seems the speed of the fans on these video cards are controlled by a 4th wire on the plug. The fans on this cooler lack that fan speed control wire.
So, the only way to controll the fan speed now is by using an adapter to plug it into fan header on the motherboard to adjust the speed by controlling the voltage.

I have tried adjusting it through software this way and by using a fan controller but have had no luck so far.

Too bad, if not for the noise this cooler is great!

Thanks
-Ken
