According to GPU-Z my 6950 2gb is idling at 60oC and 27% fan, this seems high after reading the AT article on 6990. I do run two monitors, 1 @ 2560x1440, and 1@ 1680x1050, could this be the reason? Even then, it's 22 oC above the idle temp AT article mentions.

My card is EVGA, and I use a P182 case.

Default/factory bios

Mine was running around 50-55c idle with 2 monitors at default fan profiles. I don't think the fans even spool up past 30% until well into mid 60s.

How can you have a Evga 6950? Anyway the answer is Yes. Its because your running 2 monitors. The card doesn't downclock all the way like it does when using a single monitor hence the higher temps. I think I also heard that running different resolutions make them run even hotter then 2 monitors of the same resolution. Or was that refresh rate? It was one of those.

Mine idles 66~C with 2 DVI monitors @ 1920

I am running crossfire as well, and it's the top card, so I assume it's a little hotter because of the bottom card.

I've always wondering if I should witch to my bottom card as my main card....think it's worth moving? haha
