6900k on a MSI x99S Krait

Hi there.. I just got a 6900k for my new build...got a MSI X99S krait...32 Gb DDR4..and the computer wont start...i know I have to update the BIOS for the computer to work, but i cant even get into BIOS settings..the computer wont start..the MB turns on but nothing appears on screen. My question is..do i have to install an old processor on this MB and update the BIOS and then install the 6900K or i am doing something wrong and the computer should have turned on?

Yes, always use your old CPU (if you have one), for bios updates before installing any new CPU.
If the bios date is before April 11 2016. It needs to be updated.
