Not to crap on your deal but it just seems like a waste of money to me. Why not just search for a cheap 10 gig hd or better yet spend double that price and get yourself a 45 gig.

i have one, an internal though. this thing scorches, very very fast. way faster than the specs on the box. it's handy for large files and the like, but the media is expensive. much better than carrying 10 zip disks though.

dealgod,

I've got one too. And as others have said, it is fast...but the cartridges are expensive. I would check out the Orb Drive from Castlewood systems. They usually run about $120 to $160 depending on configuration (Internal or external, SCSI, EIDE, or USB). And the disks are usually $20 for a 2.2 GB Disk. Just my 2 cents.

I agree wolverine. Jaz are probably about as popular as the orbs are, so there isn't the portability factor that Zips have. Orbs are a good deal.

the human resources division at my company uses JAZ drives to keep payroll info on. It's so that only their department can access it in a controlled fashion and backup purposes. Even IT admins like me can't touch it. Well come to think of it, it's amazing how much information you can find in temp files on their computers, but that is another matter... :)

Oh yeah, far as a "good deal" question.....Considering only 1GB of storage...I might look at going to a CDRW drive, using directCD (the softtware that lets you treat CDR & CDRW's like a drive). I mean, 650mb each and damn cheap....even the re-writables can be had for about $1 each and they're up to 10x(12x?) speed (that's 1.5 MB/S *max*).

JAZ drives are great, but only if someone else pays for it. (like my company) :)

GREAT DEAL!!! To bad some critics don't have any idea of how important the difference between portable and built in is, but keep on postin!
