i have the powercolour 6870 and installed the gelid icy vision gpu cooler running it at the lower fan speed
i am using ati tray tool to manually set my idle to 170/300 and the temps are 42-44c
when it's in 3d mode, 900/1050 and the temps are mid to high 70s (overclocking it to 950/1050 gives around the same temps)
just wondering 2 things
the idle temps are a bit high in my opinion, i know i did add a bit more AS5 just in case, but the full load temps are fine
should i reapply it
(note that those temps are literally 100% gpu load for a long period of time, if i'm gaming, it's high 60s i think)
second, apparently, the default idle speeds are 100/300 before some update and 300/1050 now
since i'm forcing the downclock (not noticing any slowdowns) is it bad for the gpu
there's always a flicker when it switches from 2d/3d mode
i'm thinking of putting it to 100/300 instead of 170/300 because i'm running dual monitors
i might even get away with 170/200 or 100/200
should i?
