Half life has been locking up on me all the time where the screen will freeze and the sound gets like stuck and just loops foever only thing I can do is press the reset button. The only thing that I am thinking could be the problem is the 686b problem if not please let me know. My computer is as follows

Abit KT7A
256MB Crucial RAM
Geforce 256
Sound Blaster Live! Platinum
Windows 2000 SP2

I am currently using via's 4-in-1s 4.32, Detonator 19.20, newest Sound Blaster drivers, Service pack 2

If you have installed all drivers properly and are up-to-date that shouldn't be the problem...
it's a possible heat/instability issue.. how does it run when clocked at rated speed? if it still does the same thing then it's gotta be something else but try at least moving the speed down a bit if not setting it back to rated speed and then try it..

the new VIA drivers are set to fix I believe the SBLIVE!/686B issue so that should be OK too, and also make sure you have the AMD AGP miniport driver installed, although I am not sure if that would cause lockups or not...

If all of your other drivers are new and updated it helps narrow things down a bit... it seems to be just a plain and simple possible instability with that type of lockup but can't tell for sure just by this post.

The big clencher is if you try setting back to rated speed, it the problem still persists, the problem is more likely software issue than anything else.. :)
