I read through the whole thing, and all I can think is, "I didn't understand a word of it." SinfulWeeper, I went to school in the pre-Internet days. I'm pretty sure that my education wasn't lacking. Based on the spelling and grammar of your plea, I suggest you spend more time on your P's and Q's and less time on ATOT.

No offence, honestly. I just get really annoyed when people want Internet connections for their education but can't even compose a gramatically correct sentence. We all make typos occasionally, but you need more help than an Internet connection will provide.

I don't understand a word you said.

All I got from reading it was 14K for a t-1 and 50 cents a person.

you're going to have to write more clearly.

Interesting post, I guess. I might suggest a few things to enhance the reader's understanding of your missive:

Spell check, grammar check, and sentence structure.

Ouch man. I would have thought that if you want to make a difference in the world, you'd at least spell better than a young uneducated child.

You really shouldn't be struggling to understand when you're reading something. :p

Hmmmmm. As an Alaskan myself, I should have had a better chance of understanding the post. But that doesn't seem to be the case. I *think* that SinfulWeeper is opposed to connecting every rural school in Alaska to the internet at the expense of everyone else.

But it's not because SinfulWeeper is upset at that communist approach to the problem. It's because SinfulWeeper's family is in the ISP business, and will either be forced to provide lowcost services to the school districts, or shut out altogether as the school itself becomes the local ISP. Either way, the state ends up running what should be a private enterprise.

As far as the cost of a T-1 in the bush compared to Anchorage, I can't tell where he's going with that. It's a self evident truth that rural costs for technology are higher than urban costs.

I also think he's saying that the measure to provide internet at below cost to rural Alaska has already passed, thanks to uninformed voters. Half of Alaska's population lives in Anchorage, and they may not have understood the implications of passing such a measure (which sounds good on the surface).

I have no strong opinion in this matter, BTW, just stating what I think the original poster meant. For example, I'm *very* opposed to giving special consideration to native owned businesses based solely on the racist practice of affirmative action. Alaska *PAID* all the natives billions of dollars in a huge settlement decades ago, with which the natives formed giant capital investment coroporations, which pay thousands of dollars a year in dividends to all the natives. This is on top of free health care and other Federal benefits.

Sorry for the gramer and spelling. The hospitol put me on some strong drugs and I am only typing with one hand... it is proving to be interesting. Perhaps I will call a friend over to type what I have in mind tommorow.

In the mean time, Merry X-Mas folks :)

Damn you Alaskans. You are all crazy. ;)

BTW, I agree that the schools schould not be acting as ISP's, but this line:

>>Small businesses, such as Native and Minority owned internet providers are in effect locked out or displaced from the market.<<

It is crap. Showing favouritism due to ethnicity is racist whether it is to "help" or not. If they do not allow the schools to act as ISPs, only to make sure than a Native or Minority owned ISP gets the business, it is still corruption.

I'm with Maetryx here that I don't understand what you're saying, really. I'm getting bits and pieces, but not understanding it all that well.

Edit: damn, I didn't put you with the thread about the hot wheels car, the table, and the amputated finger!

I feel like a real heel for ragging on your writing!
