There seems to be a lot of talk about the 775 chipsets but not about the P965 and after 680i came out P965 was ever further tucked under the rug.

Which is the best and reliable platform for making a new computer for the Core duo processor. Is 680i only for someone that would want SLI or is it best overall?

I guess you've been hiding under the rug as well!! :)

There are a bunch of rev C2 965 chipset boards coming out or I should say already available:

Abit QuadGT
Abit IB9
Asus Commando
DFI Infinity P965

and other companies are coming out with rev2 soon

965 is far from being in the shadows of RD600 or 975 or 680i.

Look into those 4 boards.

They are all good chipsets, depends on what you expect from your computer.
Are you going to overclock? Crossfire or SLI? or screw them both?

Do you expect to be able to upgrade to two dx10 cards in the future? If so you will need to get a motherboard that has TRUE dual x16 lanes.

SLI has the bigger base of good hardware to choose from right now, although I hope am2+ will change that.
