6800xt support dual monitor?

Does anyone know if it supports dual monitors? In the back there is one DVI and one analog. If I was to use the analog for the second monitor would it work? Also, does analog have less quality then dvi? So should I use dvi for the the one that games will show up on and the second monitor will use analog?

I may be wrong but I believe you need to check with the card manufacturer to get the straight answer on this. The card may give you the dual monitor support you want or it may not; again, I believe it depends on the specs built into the card by the manufacturer. I do not believe all cards with a certain graphics chip such as the 6800xt can be assumed to have full dual monitor support (meaning you can display a different desktop and run separate apps on the two monitors).

If the card will not give you full dual monitor support, one option is to install a PCI video card for the seondary monitor. For running non-gaming apps, you could go with an inexpensive PCI card; no need to have a PCI video card with a high performing graphics chip for email, web browsing, etc.

I typed dxdiag into my run command and it said my manufacter is nvidia. Is that correct?

Also, my video card now is PCI-E x16. Will I need to find another PCI-E x16 or will a regular pci do it? Wont they need to run in SLI and wouldn't they need to be the same card?

Is your card an SLI-Ready PCI Express® graphics card? I've haven't read much about SLI but, as I understand it, you would need two SLI-Ready PCI Express® graphics cards installed to take advantage of the technology. This might be helpful: Build an SLI PC

If your card is not SLI-Ready, or it is but you do not want to buy a second SLI-Ready card, then I believe a PCI (regular PCI slot, not PCI Express) card is an option for card to support a second monitor.

I run two monitors; I have an AGP card and a PCI card.

Well, the graphics chip on the card is made by nVidia. The card may come from any one of numerous companies such as eVGA, XFX, PNY, etc.

Any 6800 series card that is based on the reference design (Nearly all of them) will allow you to use both the DVI and the VGA at the same time.

Pretty much every card for years has supported dual monitors I believe.
I had a Ti4400 which IIRC did, my 9800 did and my 7800 does, and is running dual monitors right now.
This is in a non-clone way.

So let me make sure I am reading this correctly.

I should go ahead and by the monitor that supports vga. Plug it in correctly and after I set-up my displays to have extended display it will be good?

Should I buy a vga-dvi connector or the quality will be the same?

Not 100% sure what you are asking.

DVI is technically better than VGA, but most people don't notice the difference until you get around the 19-inch and larger screen sizes. If you have a VGA monitor, it doesn't matter whether you connect it directly to VGA or use a DVI-->VGA adapter as the signal will be converted to analog regardless.

Nevermind, I dont know why I didn't think of this but I have 4 other computers with crt. I checked with one of them and it works fine. Thanks.
