To sully the name of "XT," just like ATI's plot to spoil the "GT" label.

Pretty sad when the companies are engaged in these types of schoolyard tactics.

Guess this means the x800 (whatever it is), has been selling. So being a smart company and seeing a good thing - they decided to join the club.

The article said that AGP versions of it will still be NV40 chips. Which means that they will still be potentially unlockable to full 16 pipe cards. It would be nice if they have decent core clocks as otherwise I don't see how it is better than a 6600GT.

very gay how ati misleads buyers that their x800gt is supposed to be one of the better cards (aka 6800gt) and now nvidia has to be gay back with the xt...

The gamesmanship between these two companies is ridiculous. One might think that both companies had set out to deceive or, at least, confuse potential buyers. I wonder if the FTC would be interested in this?

i think its the core. it might use the nv41 core instead of the nv40, like the 6800 pcie vanilla. so no pipes unlocking. on the bright side, if this has SLI it may give the x800gt a better competition.

or better than a 6800le 😀

cant wait till they run out of suffixes and have to use TYPE R or S or VTEC and start handing out stickers and custom gfx that are"guranteed to increase performance 50%." lol. ricer video.

so ATI had a Radeon X800XT and a X850XT, nvidia had a 6800GT and 7800GT.

hehe, they seem to have the same PR marketing guys

I am sure they do, how else do you justify a 512mb 6200 or all those super low end cards that had 256mb ram. All there so the sales people at future shop can sell to the unknowing just getting a rig for their kids.

Edit: I got a cheap 9600 pro a ways back for a second computer and during shipping it gained an advantage. The advantage being much lower memory clocks.

I agree. nVidia using 'XT' for a low-end card while ATI uses 'XT' for their high-end card. Some noobs may see the '6800XT' and think: 'Wow! I've got the fastest 6800 card you can get because ATI uses 'XT' for its high-end card."

Can't ATI copyright the 'XT' label and nVidia copyright 'GT' and 'GTX?🙂
