Crazy stuff. I'd like to get my hands on one of these cards but I'm not going to pay the MSRP+gouge that stuff is selling for right now. First off, is the MSRP of the 6800 ultra and the Plat edition 800xt the same? $500 or something? Second, what's the expected levelling off price of these cards, when they are sufficiently in the market to have the prices balance out and hold for a while? What's the equilibrium prices expected to be for each card? I feel impatient as hell but I need to hold out to save a hundred bucks or so under what they are selling for today. As much as I wish, I just can't seem to become made of money ;)

The MSRP is $500. I can't believe companies like newegg are gouging people like this. If people wouldn't pay these prices I guess they wouldn't be able to get away with it. However, as long as these people keep paying I can see this trend continuing. It's a great way for these online stores to make a little extra money. Release new high demand hardware in limited quantities just long enough to gouge all these got to have it NOW people.

Anyway, you can still order the x800xtpe from cdw.com for less then MSRP. The rumor is they're getting in about 500 cards on the 15th and they've got about 400+ pre-sold. I've got an order in for a XTPE at gateway.com for $391.50 and a XTPE at CDW for $459.51. I'm going to keep the card that shows up first. BTW, the reason the gateway order is so low is because I got 10% off for being a AAA member.
