I have a 6800 ultra and a few days ago i noticed the play on my tv option. It works great becasue it stays full screened on my Tv while I do other things on my monitor but if i ever hit minimixe on the player ( either vlc or WMP) my moniter gets taken over by the video feed and i can not close the video even once it has finished. Alt Tab, CTRL alt del, and alt enter do not get me out of it so i am forced to hard restart my computer.

Is there anything that i can do to get out of it once it has taken over my computer or anything I can do to just turn it off so i don't have to hit the power button after every movie?

I think what your saying is that your using your tv to play video files, right?
Well, what I would do is right click your desktop and go to nvidia display, find the place to set display settings and set it to clone so that the picture is on both displays then go to your computor to and close the player. k?

Also what cable are u using? And if you go on the internet on your tv can you read the text?

The Tv is just there for media viewing. So no i don't read stuff off of it but i could if i really wanted to its a 32in TV and handles 600x800 nicely.

The problem is once the PLay on TV feature is activated it overlays the TV desk top so it can't bee seen but the player will reamain on my LCD monitor. So i want to minimize the player so its not taking up space and the "play on tv" feature wigs out and takes over both screens. The movie is now playing ontop of my desktop and the TV is black. So even if i do right click or hotkey on to nview settings I can't see the window that opens because the movie is playing on top of it. I've tried all of the windows shortcuts i can think of to get out of it and i din't see any nview shortcuts that i could set that would disable the overlay.

The ideal solution would be a way to keep the error from happening when i minimixe but if i have to i will just disable the play on TV feature.. If i knew how that is.

i'm useing s-video to go to the tv.

If i could get to the clone option i would gladly attmept that but i can't see anything that is going on under the video or the blaked out TV monitor.

Thanks for the help.

The clone option should work. Why not turn your computor on and not play video until you have it set to clone? And if all else fails (I think what you want to do is watch a video on your tv and work on your computor at the same time?) then have you tried not minimizeing and just opening your other windows?

I'm not familair with the "play on tv" option, but I know you can just run an extended desktop and keep your media player on your tv or whatever screen you like.

yeah i can just open other windows over it but i have formed the habbit of minimizing everything almost constantly. I actually disabled the Nview hotkey i had set for it so that I wouldn't do it all the freaking time. keeping my desktop uncluttered is just kind of a habbit.

"Play on my tv" allowed me to have a movie maximized on the tv and play a game full screened on the monitor. If i just maximixe the player on the TV then when i open a game the Movie goes black. I'm not sure why this happens. It is really nice to have two seperate things maximized and rendering though.

The thing that pisses me off is nvidia doesn't document this option any where. Its a really nice feature if it worked properly.

With clone i don't get the option to be working on both monitors. So its a solution but i might as well just maximize it on the tv and play games windowed.

I never noticed this option until i got the latest drivers from nVidia. Any one else have experience with this option? or even see it in the right click menu for movies?

Well, I found a temporary fix to this problem. When ever WMP decides to go nazi on my computer the win Key+ L still gets me back to the log in screen. At least its not a full restart.

I really can't think of any other ways to fix it, so heres a bump. You said you tried ctrl, alt, delete, but when I do that with a video playing on my tv in full screen(with the clone option on) it closes evrything(I know wtf) and takes me too my desktop.

yeah it confuses me too. I'm hoping they will choose to document the feature with their next software release. Until then the WIN key +L is a good solution. it leaves every program running and just requires me to putin my password again which isn't that big of a deal and i get my desktop back from the evil WMP. silly microsoft

Right click on your desktop and choose "NVIDIA DISPLAY" option.
Then choose the Fulle Screen Video option
Change the Full Screen Video Controls to be Disabled or whatever you want.

well that solves the problem of it taking over my computer but now i can't full screen a movie on the TV and a game on the monitor. The only opions i had were disable and auto on the menu that you sent me to.

I guess its back to where it was before i found the play on tv option but now that i know it is capable of doing dual full screened apps i really want to find a way to get the bugs out of this option.

Thanks for the help guys.

What drivers are you using? Maybe you should try installing the 7x.xx series if you are still using 6x.xx. The 7's solved a lot of issues for me.

Thats the first thing i did when this problem first came up.

Its been about a year since my last reformat so i'm going to be reformating soon. Hopefully that will clean up all the little quirks i have been running in to lately.
