My system specs are in my sig, so I will not post them again. I want to play Doom3 and HL2 with most if not all setting maxed out at 1024x768@4AA,8AF or maybe even 1280x1024@4AA,8AF. I will not play at a higher res than 1280x1024 because at 1600x1200 my monitor only does 60hz and that hurts my eyes in windows. I am sure it would hurt them in a game also. I haven't tried that though since my 8500 doesn't like playing games at that res. I have looked at Anandtech cpu scaling Doom3 results and I don't think the GT will help me out much if at all over the NU on my system. Besides the extra $120+ I save on the NU could be used for more ram or other non-computer stuff. Also you don't have to buy a evga from them to use the step-up program do you? You just have to buy the step-up card from them, correct? You know just in case I find some more money laying around in the next 90 days.

6800 should do much better over your 8500. Go for it. Also, might be hard to find a GT anyway. More ram might be a good idea to avoid paging.

The 6800NU should be 4 to 5 times faster than my 8500. Just wondering if people though a GT would help it all, ie more than 5 fps at the settings I wish to play at.

It may at 1280x1024. The GT realy shines over the NU when the res is jacked up. Though is 5fps really worth $110 more? and waiting? CAuse you can get evga 6800NU for like 280 plus Far Cry from Newegg NOW while you most likely will have to hunt down a GT and pay a little bit of a premium.
