I sold my old rig to a friend. Worked fine when it left here, now nothing but problems. I pulled the 6800Gt and put it into my current rig, works no artifacting or anything BUT maxes out at 55fps in aquamark and gets about 30 when playing css. What could cause this? I redid the drivers numerous times only to get the same result, I used driver cleaner pro. I was thinkin my old rig was watercooled maybe in transport some leaked on it. But why would the card work fine except slower???

I vote for throttling due to overheating.

What heat sink/fan is on there now? Are you still water cooling it?

Run the temperature graph from Rivatuner while you run the benchmarks. Check how hot the card is getting under a heavy load.

the vid card wasnt water cooled, its temp is 55 normal and 82 under load for a few minutes. Its a XFX with factory heatsink and fan. Im really clueless after ruling out the drivers situation. The temp although i feel a bit high, i dont think its the issue either. But I may take off the hs and redo the thermal on it. Just dont feel thats the issue. Can a card just go lame....

Check the heatsink for clogged up dust, but I suspect the "problem" is that the friend tried to overclock the snot out of the card and damaged it in the process.

i think in the travels water may have leaked from somewhere, that would be my only guess because he pretty much knows what hes doin and i overclocked the snot out of it long ago. Seems the motherboard is wacky too. Just cant believe the vid card could be too.
