It reports that my current 2D Turbo speeds are 351/1002 and 3D Turbo speeds as 350/1000. I thought the 6800GT was supposed to run closer to 380 stock and easily be OCed to 400-410. I think my current temperatures are 65 idle and 71 load (give or take a few). Is overclocking it up to ultra speeds still viable or would it severely damage the card over the short term? Also how does this affect the warranty since they (Leadtek) are GIVING me an application to OC with. Im not a bit overclocker, but would like it if I could squeeze a $400 ultra card out of a $300 GT card. I really want to try overclocking, but am worried about voiding the warranty in case something did happen to the card whether it be from the OCing or not. I think it would be kind of rediculous if the card did burn out from a very minor push in speed.

Okay I just noticed after quitting CS:S that the load temp was around 88C after only 10-15 minutes of playing. This seems extremely high to me even if the card is running hot. My case is a Xaser III with 7 fans that are all 80mm. Is there something that could be helping the card heat up instead of cooling? I want to OC to ultra speeds (if it won't blow my chances at a warranty if something in the future goes wrong). However at this point it doesn't seem possible because of the high temperatures.

I'd watch the temps, maybe even add a slot cooler under the video card, or even buy a good after market HSF for the GPU.

The good news is, I've heard of 6800GTs running 90*C+ without a problem.

My X800XL rus around 80*C under load.

Okay so it isn't a problem that it is running 90C with stock fan/settings? I am uncomfortable with the HSF because doesn't that void the warranty? Overclocking is only an idea at the moment because I can't blow my chance at a replacement if needed. I ask because I wasn't able to find anything about the warranty being voided by OCing unless you exceed the recommended specs (not sure what this entirely means). Also say I wanted to check out this coolbits registry hack...would that void the warranty even if its there and not used for overclocking? Basically what does overclocking do to a card that is noticible/detectable?

EDIT: Remember...if I do decide to OC...it won't be that much. I only want to get around Ultra speeds to "add $100 to the card" performance wise while keeping it within safe temperatures.
